MALAYSIAN GRIEF RESPONSE AND ORGAN DONATION AWARENESS WORKSHOP (MyGRODA)

INTRODUCTION

Malaysian Grief Response and Organ Donation Awareness (MyGRODA) workshop is a basic training related to organ donation and transplantation for health personnel working in hospitals. Participants will get information and basic skills related to organ donation carried out in Malaysia throughout the workshop. This workshop uses a training module adapted from Spain.

OBJECTIVES OF THE WORKSHOP

  • Increase knowledge related to organ donation and transplantation.
  • Train health personnel in early detection skills for organ donation cases.
  • Train health personnel on effective communication skills with next of kin and grief management.
  • Train health personnel as focal person in the hospital for the detection of organ donation cases.
  • Increase the referral rate of potential organ donors in Malaysia.

TRAINING DURATION

The workshop is held for two (2) days.

PARTICIPATION

Participants consist of Physicians, Medical Officers and Paramedics who work in critical areas for organ donor detection such as Anaesthesiology Department, Emergency Department, Forensic Department and Medical Department.

  • Sabah Zone: 11 & 12 July 2023 (Sabah Federal Government Administration Complex, Kota Kinabalu)
  • North Zone: 23 & 24 August 2023 (Penang Hospital)
  • Sarawak Zone: 03 & 04 October 2023 (Sarawak General Hospital)
